Background of KZNPPHC

KZNPPHC was registered in 1999 as a non-profit organisation with the Department of Social development. The focus is on health education and skills development in disadvantaged communities in rural and urban areas.

In 1987 National Progressive Primary Health Care Network (NPPHCN) was established with a focus on advocacy and lobbying on health care issues for rural communities and women's well-being. They were part of the progressive health organisation which developed health care policies that influenced the current health legislation and policies.

In 1999 NPPHCN was restructured and a new section 21 company, KwaZulu-Natal Primary Health Care was established.
